Our friend and partner Henry J. Murphy, Q.C. practiced law in the Province of New Brunswick for 37 years.

He was a founding member of Murphy Collette Murphy. He passed away in 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

J. William Collette, Q.C. was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in 1983. Bill maintains a bilingual trial and solicitor practice throughout New Brunswick and has appeared in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Bill has also acts as mediator and arbitrator in civil litigation cases throughout the province of New Brunswick.

Michael R. Cormier, completed his undergraduate degree in 1997 at the University of New Brunswick in Law and Society and Sociology. Michael then attended the Atlantic Police Academy in 1999 for the Police Cadet training program. He worked for the B.N.P.P. Regional police as well as the RCMP in Moncton and Fredericton before earning his law degree from the Université de Moncton in 2006.

Michael is a strong supporter of animal welfare and the SPCA.

Michael maintains a bilingual trial and solicitor practice throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. He practices in the areas of personal injury, civil litigation, construction litigation, fire loss, corporate commercial and real estate.

Fluent in both English and French, he conducts his practice in both languages.

Completed his undergraduate degrees at the University of Victoria (Political Science 1986; Education 1989) and then received his legal education at the University of Victoria (LL.B. 1994). 


Darren has extensive experience in insurance law and general litigation, having served as counsel to the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia from 2002 to 2007, and, before that, as counsel at one of the leading insurance law firms in British Columbia.

Ryan T. Murphy completed his undergraduate degree in 2005 at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, obtaining a Bachelor's of Business Administration. He also pursued studies in Psychology and Ethics during his time there. He has fond memories of the time he sat on the executive for the Philosophy Department Society then also known as "The Hemlock Club". He also worked for the Student Union as a driver for the SafeRide program, ensuring students could access free, safe transportation from campus.

He then attended Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario, receiving his Juris Doctor in 2009. He was an active member of the Osgoode and York Debating Societies and competed in tournaments held by the Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debate. Working in Recruitment at the law school, he met the woman who he would later marry, and they returned to New Brunswick together. They had their first daughter in 2017.

Ryan was called to the New Brunswick bar in 2010. He practices in civil litigation, particularly in the areas of personal injury, insurance and fire loss, all across New Brunswick. He is a still photography and technology enthusiast. He has previously presented for the CBA alongside his late father, Henry J. Murphy, on such topics as document management and electronic best practices.

Curran G. Tompkins

Prior to attending law school, Curran G. Tompkins attended Mount Allison University earning an Honours degree in Biochemistry with a double minor in Biology and Chemistry (2013).

While at Mount A, he was heavily involved in charitable causes and sat as an executive for Habitat for Humanity Mount Allison Chapter. He is also a published scientist (Transition Metal Chemistry, 2015).

Curran obtained his law degree from Université de Moncton in 2016 where he sat as an executive on the Association des étudiants(es) de l'école de droit de l'Université de Moncton (AÉÉDUM). He also sat as President of various sub-committees and did pro bono work with a free legal aid clinic.

Outside The Office
Curran and his wife Tara have one son. He leads a very active lifestyle, plays hockey and is an avid outdoorsman. He is also an avid supporter of animal rights and the SPCA.
